Managing Director

Rachel Allum-Sindall came into the family business in 1991 as a Company Director alongside her parents Peter Sindall MBE and Margery Sindall in 2008.  After the loss of Peter Sindall, Rachel has taken on the role of Managing Director overseeing both the units, (Thetford and Harleston) and the Parlour Tearooms.   She provides a wealth of experience from both the Industrial sector and Social Care sector.

Manager- Thetford Unit

Julie Harrop joined OE in 2012 as the Manager of the Thetford Unit.  She has a real empathy for our client group, bringing a wealth of 'product management, quality assurance, negotiation experiencecommonsense' and a great sense of humour to the team.  

Manager - Harleston Unit

Ruth Sindall joined the family business in 2018 having been involved OE's social activities as a volunteer for many years.  Ruth is the Manager of the Harleston Unit and a non executive Director, supporting Rachel and Margery Sindall in the strategic and financial management of the company. She brings 30 years of management experience from the Leisure and Education sectors. 

Supervisory Team

Janet Norman has been a part of the OE team based at our Harleston unit since 2000. Janet joined the team initially as a Production Operative within our integrated workforce. Janet was promoted in 2007 to supervisor becoming a Senior Supervisor in 2011. Janet manages both the production and social care aspects of a busy unit supported by the Manager. 

Steve Podd has been a part of the OE team based at our Thetford unit since 2010. Steve became a Senior Supervisor in 2016. Steve has a wealth of experience within the social care sector and has been a retained fire fighter for over 20 years bringing his practical knowledge and experience to the team.

Carol Roberts has been a part of the team based at our Thetford unit since 2004. Carol started with OE as a Production Operative in our integrated workforce. Carol took the opportunity to become a Supervisor in 2011 supporting both the Senior Supervisor role and management team. 

Tony Dean started with OE in January 2019 as our lorry driver, warehouse and handy person. Whilst Tony is based at our Thetford unit he operates across both sites.


Bev Holder has been part of the OE team based at our Thetford unit since 2004. Bev started as a Production Operative gaining promotion to Assistant Superviso in January 2019.

Administration & Finance Team

Heather Goddard joined our administration team at Harleston  in 2010. Heather is also secretary for Palgrave & District Community Council and is a unit helper for Beavers and secretary for the Scout group as well as raising her own family. Heather is OE's  Office and Finance Administrator

Dawn Wootton is the newest member of our administration team and works in our Thetford Office three days per week. Dawn went into banking straight from school moving onto an administrators post for Jeyes, Thetford in 2005. Dawn remained with Jeyes being promoted to project administrator and the project manager in 2015.  Dawn supports Julie in her role as Thetford's manager and Rachel in her role as Managing Director.
